NYCL held in-person arts and crafts classes for kids ages 5-10 at 245 North Gannon Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314. These arts and crafts ideas are brought up with the help of the parents. Most of these aim to be parent-child activities. Parents and children were able to cherish this time to work together to make their own personal crafts. We had crafts such as making flowers for Mother's Day. The kids and their parents work together to make a gift for their mothers. It's a win-win situation to see the creativity of the kids that they are able to come up with and the mother's being so joyful to receive a gift with so much love put in it. With the teacher's help, kids were able to make different sorts of arts and crafts objects including things such as drawings, origami objects, and other hands-on crafts. These classes were completely free of charge and any kid that were willing to learn was able to attend as long as they show up for the class on the certain day the class was held.

线上水彩课 Remote Watercoloring Class

This is a remote class that NYCL held online for anyone that was interested in watercolor classes. We have teachers who are willing to lead the class into the adventures of watercolors. Kids remark this class as one of their most enjoyable classes as they are able to both learn and talk to their friends and fellow classmates although not in person. Zoom links are posted in flyers that are sent around in group chats. Parents will sign the kids up for the classes if interested. Not only are the kids able to socially interact online but these classes are also completely free of charge giving the parents another reason to sign their kids up. The watercolor class draws multiple drawings mostly aiming for landscape art. With the help of the teacher, these gifted kids are able to put their talents to use.

This class held by NYCL is a remote class that gathers all students interested in listening to stories. The main audience was kids of grades 2-3 and students who had a reading level of approximately level N. We restricted our class size to 15 students a week for more engaging sessions. We had Alvin Lin, a high schooler, lead the course as he picked out different books at different grade levels to read to the students. The books were picked from various series including The Magic Tree House and Harry Potter. We made sure the books covered a range of ages from children's books for 1st and 2nd graders to more complicated books like Harry Potter for 6th and 7th graders. The classes were held on Saturdays over Zoom. Before each week of storytelling class, there would be posters sent out to parents and they would be able to sign up to save a spot for their kids in the class. This class was completely free and a lot of fun for the kids.
